While some fans know the film by heart, it is said that the Casablanca actors did not know how the film was going to end until the last day of shooting. I haven't seen this one in ages! Come to think of it, I've seen it twice; the first time, I saw the end, and the second time I saw the beginning! Not a way to watch a movie.
It's funny to me how this movie couldn't exist in this time and age. Getting on a plane doesn't end contact anymore! Grant could get off and text his love from where ever he was if this story took place now.
